Welcome to my blog website “Ania’s Roots & Bees” and thank you for buzzing by today.
My name is Ania B. and I LOVE Food & Everything Bees.
I live in the Greater Toronto area in beautiful Canada with my kind best friend/husband, 2 teenage boys, 1 dog (Bumble) and a few beehives. I am an
Apiarist, Recipe Developer, Holistic Nutritionist R.H.N. and Aesthetician. I am also a Culinary Nutrition Expert and Rouxbe Certified Plant-Based Chef.
My food philosophy is based on intentional & seasonal eating.
I do eat grass fed & ethically raised meats.
I am mostly gluten & dairy free (since I am sensitive to both of them).
I say ‘mostly’ because I do eat grass-fed butter on a regular basis and occasionally I eat sheep, goat and water buffalo dairy. I also enjoy a homemade sourdough bread once in a while, and, when I travel to Italy & Poland, love to indulge in their pasta, dumplings, & deserts without any side effects. I am also a huge fan of fermented foods, good fats, and raw honey.
“Ania’s Roots & Bees” celebrates whole food culinary creations, holistic wellness, gut health, EVERYTHING BEES & BEEGoodness from the hive plus soulful creative living. My motto is ‘NOURISH YOUR GUT’.
I am extremely passionate about digestion and how it affects the rest of our body systems, well-being, and health. I believe strongly that if our digestion doesn’t work to its fullest potential it causes other systems to function less effectively, and that poor digestion is the root cause of many health conditions. I became a Holistic Nutritionist because I have always been a foodie and I wanted to help myself and avoid taking medications. I have been suffering from severe anxiety, IBS, emotional eating, hormonal imbalances, eczema and skin rashes for years. It all started after having my first child. Then, six years ago after an intense and stressful period of my life, I had developed some seriously painful digestive problems. That’s when I decided to get real serious about my health and learn how to nourish my gut differently.
I am completely inspired by food and I honestly believe that food is a form of medicine. While I don’t believe that food is the answer to everything, it’s truly one of the major building blocks to feeling more vibrant and having more energy. I also don’t like diets, labels and being strict with food.
I believe in moderation, listening, being flexible, kind and loving to your body.
I am also a BEELover! I would say that bees are part of my DNA.
When I was a little girl in Poland, I spent some of my summers with my Great Grandmother who was a hobbyist beekeeper. I just LOVED helping her with her bees and found her apiary magical; it became my happy place. Several years ago when I returned to Poland, I spent some time at my uncle’s bee apiary and that magical feeling returned with a vengeance and after that visit, I decided to learn everything about bees. Now, I have finally joined the family tradition as an Apiarist, and I just LOVE spending time around the hive. Bees & the hive aroma has this calming effect on me; it is while watching their magical movements and sounds that I tend to lose myself in them and this enchanted stillness takes over. In which I only see them and there is only stillness and silence all around me.
I do consider myself a bee warrior! They need our help and everyone needs to do their part in helping them survive on this planet earth. Bees are a CRUCIAL component of food production. In fact, bees are responsible for a third of the food that we eat and are critical to our food supply. HELLO! to ALL of the FOODIES! We ALL need to learn more about them and remember that bees are the gatekeepers to our ecosystem!!!
